Dib

Dib Membrane is a fictional character in the animated television series Invader Zim, created by Jhonen Vasquez. The character is a human boy and a self-styled paranormal investigator who becomes obsessed with exposing alien invaders, especially Zim from the planet Irk. Dib is portrayed as intelligent, persistent, and socially awkward, frequently pursuing evidence through home-made devices and notebooks. His ongoing investigations often bring him into direct conflict with Zim’s attempts to conceal his true identity, forming the core of many episodes’ plots.

Dib is the brother of Gaz Membrane, and his relationship with his sister ranges from rivalry to reluctant alliance at times. He is depicted within the town’s school setting as a teenager who channels his skepticism into a determination to prove the existence of extraterrestrial life on Earth. This dynamic contributes to the show’s humor and tension, while also highlighting themes of paranoia, belief, and the clash between youth culture and hidden threats.

Dib appears throughout Invader Zim’s original run (2001–2006) and the 2019 Netflix film Enter the Florpus.
