They may engage in homeland politics, advocacy, or cultural production and contribute to diaspora institutions such as clubs, media outlets, and educational programs. Their identities often span multiple countries, cultures, and communities.

Demographics and distribution: The phenomenon is observed across many global diasporas, including communities from South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, the Americas, and Europe. Generational differences shape identity, with first-generation migrants often more closely tied to homeland while subsequent generations navigate integration in host societies alongside heritage preservation.
