Dewoord

Dewoord is a term whose meaning is not established in major dictionaries or scholarly works. It does not denote a widely recognized concept, and its use is largely confined to informal contexts and occasional linguistic examples.

The form appears to be a compound of the Dutch definite article de and the noun woord (word). In standard Dutch, de and woord would not normally combine to form a single lexical item; dewoord is typically treated as a nonce word or a proper name when used.

In practice, dewoord is encountered mainly as a placeholder name in teaching, demonstrations of word formation, or discussions about neologisms. Because there is no official definition, its sense is determined by context and author.

When used as a brand or proper name, dewoord may appear capitalized (DeWoord) or with space (De woord) depending on styling; otherwise, it is lower-case.
