Dermatitída

Dermatitída is a general term for inflammation of the skin. It is a common skin condition that can affect people of all ages and can manifest in various ways. The inflammation is typically characterized by redness, itching, and sometimes blistering or weeping of the skin. There are many different types of dermatitída, each with its own causes and symptoms.

One of the most common types is contact dermatitída, which occurs when the skin comes into contact with an irritant or allergen. Irritant contact dermatitída is caused by direct damage to the skin from substances like harsh soaps, detergents, or chemicals. Allergic contact dermatitída develops when the immune system reacts to a substance that has touched the skin, such as poison ivy, nickel, or certain fragrances.

Another prevalent form is atopic dermatitída, also known as eczema. This chronic condition often begins in childhood and is characterized by dry, itchy, and inflamed skin. The exact cause is not fully understood but is believed to involve a combination of genetic and environmental factors, as well as an overactive immune system.

Seborrheic dermatitída is a common condition that causes flaky, white to yellowish scales on oily areas such as the scalp, face, and chest. In infants, it is known as cradle cap. The exact cause is unclear but is thought to be related to a yeast that lives on the skin and an inflammatory response.

Other types of dermatitída include nummular dermatitída, which appears as coin-shaped itchy patches, and stasis dermatitída, which affects the lower legs due to poor circulation. Diagnosis usually involves a physical examination and a review of the patient's medical history. Treatment depends on the specific type of dermatitída and may include topical creams, oral medications, and avoiding triggers.
