DenéYeniseian

The Dené–Yeniseian languages are a proposed language family that would link the Yeniseian languages of Siberia with the Na-Dené languages of North America. This proposed macrofamily is based on a number of proposed lexical and grammatical correspondences, though it remains controversial among linguists. Proponents argue that a shared ancestral language, Proto-Dené–Yeniseian, existed several millennia ago and eventually diverged, with its speakers migrating from Eurasia to North America.

Evidence for the proposed link includes similarities in core vocabulary and grammatical structures, such as verb conjugation patterns and pronoun systems. However, many scholars remain skeptical, pointing to the vast geographical separation of the two groups and the challenges of reconstructing languages with such a deep time depth. Further research is ongoing to either solidify or refute this proposed genetic relationship. If proven, Dené–Yeniseian would represent a significant expansion of our understanding of human linguistic history and migration patterns.
