Denominações is a term often used in religious and theological contexts to refer to distinct groups or sects within a larger religion. These denominations typically share a common core set of beliefs and practices but differ in specific doctrines, interpretations of scripture, or organizational structures. For example, within Christianity, major denominations include Catholicism, Protestantism (which itself is divided into numerous denominations like Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans, and Presbyterians), and Eastern Orthodoxy.
