Dellaldosterone

Dellaldosterone is a hypothetical mineralocorticoid hormone used in speculative discussions to illustrate possible variants of adrenal steroids. It is not a recognized endogenous hormone in humans, and no verified chemical entity by this name is catalogued in standard biochemical or pharmacological references.

In hypothetical frameworks, dellaldosterone would be produced by the adrenal cortex and act through mineralocorticoid receptors to influence electrolyte and fluid balance. If present, its principal actions would resemble those of aldosterone: increasing sodium reabsorption in the distal nephron via upregulation of epithelial sodium channels and basolateral Na+/K+-ATPase, promoting chloride and water retention, and increasing potassium and hydrogen ion secretion.

Regulation would plausibly involve the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, with angiotensin II or potassium levels modulating secretion. Tissue distribution might include kidney, colon, and salivary glands where mineralocorticoid receptors are expressed.

Clinical significance would depend on real-world evidence; in speculative models, hypersecretion could contribute to hypertension or hypokalemia if unregulated, while deficiency could cause volume depletion and hyperkalemia. At present, dellaldosterone remains a hypothetical construct rather than an established physiological hormone. Because the term is not standard, researchers rely on established hormones such as aldosterone and related steroids when discussing mineralocorticoid biology.
