Deckburns

Deckburns is a term used within certain subcultures, particularly among skateboarders, to describe the act of intentionally damaging a skateboard deck by burning it. This is typically done using a lighter, torch, or other heat source to create scorch marks on the underside of the deck. The practice can range from minor cosmetic alterations to more significant charring that may compromise the structural integrity of the board.

The motivations behind deckburning vary. For some, it is a form of personal expression or a way to customize their skateboard, creating unique visual patterns. It can also be a symbolic act, marking a significant event, a personal achievement, or a farewell to a beloved deck that is no longer rideable.
