Deccanplatået
Deccanplatået is a large plateau that covers much of south-central India. It is bordered by the Western Ghats mountain range to the west and the Eastern Ghats to the east. The plateau is characterized by its generally flat terrain, with rolling hills and dissected valleys. It is composed of ancient crystalline and metamorphic rocks, overlain by a thick layer of basaltic lava that erupted millions of years ago, forming what is known as the Deccan Traps. This volcanic activity is believed to be one of the largest in Earth's history.
