DanubeRuthenian
DanubeRuthenian refers to a historical ethno-linguistic group and their associated dialect spoken in certain regions along the Danube River, particularly in parts of modern-day Serbia and Croatia. These communities were primarily descendants of Rusyns who migrated from the Carpathian region, often in the 18th and 19th centuries. They settled in areas that were historically part of the Habsburg Monarchy, seeking land and economic opportunities. Over time, their dialect, while rooted in East Slavic traditions, evolved under the influence of surrounding South Slavic languages, especially Serbian and Croatian, as well as Hungarian.
The DanubeRuthenian dialect exhibits a distinct phonetic and lexical character, often differing from the Rusyn dialects
