Daikoku
Daikoku, also known as Daikokuten, is one of the Shichifukujin, the seven gods of fortune in Japanese mythology. He is the god of wealth, prosperity, and good fortune. Daikoku is often depicted with a stern but benevolent expression, wearing a black hat and holding a golden mallet. He is usually shown seated on bales of rice, symbolizing abundance. His origins are traced to the Indian deity Mahakala, a form of Shiva, who was introduced to Japan through Buddhism.
