DVBCtelevision

DVBCtelevision refers to television services delivered via a Digital Video Broadcasting – Cable (DVB-C) standard. DVB-C is a digital television broadcast transmission standard for cable television systems developed by the DVB Project. It allows for the transmission of digital television, radio, and data services over existing cable TV infrastructure.

In a DVB-C system, television signals are encoded in a digital format and then modulated onto radio frequency carriers. This digital encoding allows for more efficient use of bandwidth compared to analog television, enabling the transmission of more channels and higher quality video and audio. DVB-C typically utilizes Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) to encode data onto the carrier wave. Common QAM schemes include 64-QAM and 256-QAM, with higher orders supporting greater data rates.

To receive DVB-C broadcasts, viewers require a television or set-top box equipped with a DVB-C tuner. This tuner demodulates the digital signal, decodes the video and audio, and displays it on the screen. DVB-C is widely adopted in many countries, particularly in Europe and parts of Asia and Africa, as a standard for digital cable television. It replaced older analog cable systems and offers advantages such as improved picture and sound quality, interactive services, and the potential for higher definition programming. The infrastructure for DVB-C is generally managed by cable network operators who provide the service to subscribers.
