DNSszerverezet is a term that refers to the distributed hierarchical system used to manage and translate domain names into IP addresses. This system is fundamental to the functioning of the internet. When a user types a website address, such as "example.com," into their browser, a DNSszerverezet is queried to find the corresponding numerical IP address (e.g., 192.0.2.1) that allows the browser to connect to the correct server.

The DNSszerverezet operates in a hierarchical manner, with root servers at the top. These root servers direct queries to top-level domain (TLD) servers, which are responsible for domains like .com, .org, or country-specific domains like .uk. TLD servers then direct queries to authoritative name servers, which hold the specific DNS records for individual domain names. This layered approach ensures that the system is scalable and resilient.

The process of translating a domain name to an IP address involves several steps. A user's computer typically first checks its local DNS cache. If the information is not found there, it queries a recursive resolver, often provided by an Internet Service Provider (ISP). The recursive resolver then systematically queries the DNSszerverezet, starting from the root servers, until it finds the authoritative name server for the requested domain and obtains the IP address. This IP address is then returned to the user's computer, allowing the connection to be established.
