DNAFISH

DNAFISH is a technique used to identify and locate specific DNA sequences within cells or tissues. It combines principles of fluorescence microscopy with DNA hybridization. The process involves creating fluorescently labeled DNA probes that are complementary to the target DNA sequence of interest. These probes are then applied to a sample, such as a prepared slide of cells, where they bind to their matching sequences.

The unbound probes are washed away, leaving only the fluorescent signals at the locations of the target DNA. When viewed under a fluorescence microscope, these signals appear as bright spots, indicating the presence and location of the specific DNA sequence. DNAFISH can be used to detect chromosomal abnormalities like translocations, deletions, and amplifications, as well as to identify the presence of specific genes or pathogens.
