DMXohjaus, often referred to as DMX control, is a digital communication protocol widely used in stage lighting and effects equipment. It allows a single control console or computer to manage and synchronize multiple lighting fixtures and other devices. The protocol transmits data in packets, with each packet containing a set of channels that can be individually controlled. These channels typically range from 0 to 255, representing different parameters such as intensity, color, movement, and strobe effects.

The system works by sending a DMX universe, which can contain up to 512 channels, from a controller to a series of interconnected fixtures. Each fixture is assigned a unique starting address within the universe, dictating which channels it will respond to. This addressing scheme enables precise control over each device, allowing for complex lighting cues and dynamic visual performances. DMXohjaus is known for its reliability and flexibility, making it a standard in professional entertainment and architectural lighting applications. Its open standard nature means a wide variety of manufacturers produce compatible equipment.
