DCjännitelähteet, which translates to DC voltage sources, are fundamental components in electrical engineering that provide a constant electrical potential difference, or voltage, between two points. This constant voltage is independent of the current drawn from the source, within its operational limits. Unlike AC (alternating current) voltage sources where the voltage polarity reverses periodically, DC voltage sources maintain a fixed polarity.

These sources are crucial for powering a vast array of electronic devices and systems that require direct current. Common examples of DC voltage sources include batteries, which store chemical energy and convert it into electrical energy, and DC power supplies, which typically convert AC mains voltage into a stable DC voltage through processes like rectification and voltage regulation. Solar cells also act as DC voltage sources, converting light energy into electricity.

The primary characteristic of an ideal DC voltage source is its ability to maintain a specified voltage regardless of the load connected to it. In reality, all DC voltage sources have some internal resistance, which causes the output voltage to drop slightly as the current drawn increases. Nevertheless, they are designed to approximate this ideal behavior as closely as possible. The output voltage of a DC source is typically measured in volts (V).
