Cuvetit

Cuvetit is a proposed but unconfirmed exoplanet candidate located approximately 40 light-years away in the constellation Pisces. It was initially identified as a potential planet by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) mission. The designation "Cuvetit" is informal and derived from a combination of the TESS mission and its provisional catalog number.

The primary evidence for Cuvetit's existence comes from the observation of periodic dips in the brightness of its host star, a red dwarf named TOI-700. These dips are consistent with the transit method, where a planet passes in front of its star from our perspective, blocking a small amount of its light. Analysis of these transits suggested a planet roughly the size of Earth, orbiting within the habitable zone of its star. The habitable zone is the region around a star where conditions might be suitable for liquid water to exist on a planet's surface.

However, follow-up observations and analyses have not definitively confirmed Cuvetit's planetary nature. There is a possibility that the observed dips are caused by stellar activity, such as starspots, rather than a transiting exoplanet. Further observations with more powerful telescopes, such as the James Webb Space Telescope, would be required to confirm its existence and characterize its properties, if it is indeed a planet. If confirmed, Cuvetit would be a significant discovery due to its Earth-like size and its location within the habitable zone of a relatively nearby star.
