Cupido
Cupido is the Latin name of the mythological figure known in English as Cupid, the god of love and desire in Roman mythology. Often depicted as a winged youth armed with a bow and quiver, he is said to shoot arrows that incite romantic attraction or aversion. He appears as the son of Venus (and sometimes Mars) and is the Roman counterpart of the Greek Eros. In classical literature and Renaissance art, Cupido figures as a playful, sometimes mischievous, patron of love, and his image has become a symbol of romantic affection and Valentine’s Day.
