Culteranismo
Culteranismo, also known as Gongorism, was a literary movement in Spanish Golden Age literature, flourishing primarily in the late 16th and early 17th centuries. It is characterized by a highly ornate and complex style, aiming for aesthetic sophistication and intellectual challenge. Key features include elaborate syntax, the use of Latinate vocabulary, mythological allusions, and metaphors that often obscure rather than clarify meaning.
