Cuchumatanes
The Cuchumatanes is a mountain range located in Guatemala, forming part of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas. It is the highest mountain range in Central America, with its highest point, Tacaná volcano, reaching an elevation of 4,064 meters (13,333 feet). The Cuchumatanes stretch across the western highlands of Guatemala, encompassing parts of the Huehuetenango, San Marcos, and Quiché departments. The region is characterized by dramatic landscapes, including steep valleys, high plateaus, and a variety of ecosystems ranging from cloud forests to alpine meadows.
