CubeSatteihin

CubeSatteihin is a Finnish term referring to CubeSats. CubeSats are a type of miniaturized satellite for space research that are standardized in terms of their size and modularity. The standard unit of CubeSat is a 10x10x10 cm cube, which weighs no more than 1.33 kilograms. Larger CubeSats can be assembled by combining multiples of this basic unit. These satellites are often used for educational purposes and scientific research, as their small size and standardized design make them relatively inexpensive to build and launch.

The concept of CubeSats originated in the late 1990s at California Polytechnic State University and Stanford University. The goal was to create a common platform that universities could use to develop and launch their own satellites, fostering hands-on experience in spacecraft design and operation. Since their inception, CubeSats have become increasingly popular among academic institutions, research organizations, and even commercial entities. They can carry a variety of payloads, including cameras, sensors, and communication equipment, enabling a wide range of scientific experiments and technological demonstrations. Their deployable nature from the International Space Station or dedicated dispensers on launch vehicles further contributes to their accessibility.
