CuF
CuF, copper(I) fluoride, is a chemical compound with the formula CuF. It is an ionic salt consisting of copper in the +1 oxidation state and fluoride ions. CuF is a white solid. It is sparingly soluble in water, and its solubility decreases with increasing temperature. Like other copper(I) halides, CuF is prone to oxidation in air, especially in the presence of moisture, to form copper(II) species.
CuF is typically prepared by the reaction of copper(I) oxide with hydrogen fluoride or by the reaction
The crystal structure of CuF is related to that of sodium chloride, but it exhibits some distortions.
