Csillóhámot

Csillóhámot, also known as ciliated epithelium, is a type of tissue found in various parts of the body. It is characterized by the presence of cilia, which are short, hair-like appendages that protrude from the surface of the epithelial cells. These cilia beat in a coordinated fashion, creating a current that can move substances along the surface of the tissue.

In the respiratory system, csillóhámot lines the airways, including the trachea and bronchi. The beating cilia in this region help to trap and remove inhaled particles, such as dust and bacteria, from the lungs. This mucociliary escalator mechanism is crucial for maintaining the cleanliness and health of the respiratory tract.

Csillóhámot is also found in the female reproductive tract, specifically lining the fallopian tubes. Here, the cilia help to propel the egg cell from the ovary towards the uterus. In other locations, such as parts of the central nervous system and the inner ear, specialized ciliated cells play roles in fluid movement and sensory perception.

The structure and function of csillóhámot are highly specialized. Each cilium contains a core of microtubules arranged in a characteristic 9+2 pattern, which is essential for its coordinated movement. The coordinated beating of these cilia is powered by cellular energy, primarily ATP. Damage or dysfunction of csillóhámot can lead to various health problems, highlighting its importance in maintaining physiological processes.
