Cselekvéselméletek, often translated as action theories or theories of action, represent a broad philosophical and social scientific framework concerned with understanding human behavior, particularly intentional and goal-directed actions. These theories seek to explain why individuals act in certain ways, what motivates their choices, and how their actions are embedded within social contexts.

At their core, cselekvéselméletek grapple with the distinction between mere events and deliberate actions. An action is typically understood as something an agent does intentionally, often involving a conscious choice and a desire to achieve a particular outcome. This distinguishes it from involuntary reflexes or accidental occurrences. Key concepts within these theories include intention, motivation, belief, desire, and rationality.
