Créteils

Créteils is a commune in the southeastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located in the Val-de-Marne department, within the Île-de-France region. Créteils is situated approximately 11.2 kilometers (7 miles) from the center of Paris. The commune is bisected by the river Seine, with the main urban center located on the left bank.

Historically, the area of Créteils was primarily agricultural. It began to develop significantly in the 20th century, particularly after World War II, as part of the expansion of the Parisian metropolitan area. New housing estates and infrastructure were built to accommodate a growing population.

Créteils is known for its diverse population and its mix of residential areas, green spaces, and some industrial and commercial zones. It is home to the Université Paris-Est-Créteil-Val-de-Marne (UPEC), a major public university, which contributes to the city's dynamic character.
