Cryoprecipitátum

Cryoprecipitate is a blood product derived from fresh frozen plasma. It is obtained by thawing plasma at a controlled low temperature and then separating the precipitate that forms. This precipitate is rich in certain plasma proteins, including fibrinogen, von Willebrand factor, factor VIII, and factor XIII.

Cryoprecipitate is primarily used to treat conditions where there is a deficiency in these specific clotting factors. For instance, it is a key treatment for acquired fibrinogen deficiency, which can occur in severe bleeding or disseminated intravascular coagulation. It is also used for patients with hemophilia A or von Willebrand disease who may not have adequate access to more purified factor concentrates, or in specific clinical situations where cryoprecipitate is preferred. The administration of cryoprecipitate helps to replenish these essential clotting factors, thereby improving hemostasis and reducing bleeding. It is typically administered intravenously.
