Criptográficas refers to the field of cryptography, which is the practice and study of techniques for secure communication in the presence of third parties called adversaries. It involves methods for transforming information into a format that is unintelligible to unauthorized individuals, thus protecting its confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity.

The core principles of cryptography are encryption and decryption. Encryption is the process of converting readable data (plaintext) into an unreadable format (ciphertext) using an algorithm and a secret key. Decryption is the reverse process, where ciphertext is converted back into plaintext using the correct key.

There are two main types of cryptographic systems: symmetric-key cryptography and asymmetric-key cryptography. In symmetric-key cryptography, the same secret key is used for both encryption and decryption. This method is generally faster but requires a secure way to share the key. In asymmetric-key cryptography, also known as public-key cryptography, two keys are used: a public key for encryption and a private key for decryption. The public key can be freely shared, while the private key must be kept secret. This system is crucial for secure key exchange and digital signatures.

Cryptography plays a vital role in various aspects of modern technology, including secure online transactions, digital signatures, password protection, and secure data storage. Its principles are fundamental to cybersecurity and maintaining privacy in digital communication.
