Cresselia is a Legendary Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. Known as the Lunar Pokémon, it is considered the counterpart to Darkrai and is associated with the crescent moon and peaceful dreams.

In appearance, Cresselia resembles a graceful, pastel-colored bird with pale blue and pink tones. It features a crescent-shaped crest on its head and long, flowing tails with star-like markings, giving it an ethereal, lunar look. Lore describes it as benevolent, capable of dispelling nightmares and bringing calm, restorative sleep to those it watches over. It is genderless and tends to roam the night sky, especially under moons that are visible from Earth.

Cresselia’s standard ability is Levitate, providing immunity to Ground-type moves. It learns a variety of Psychic-type and support moves and has a signature move called Lunar Dance, introduced in Generation IV, which aligns with its lunar theme and role as a guardian of sleep.

In the games, Cresselia is a Legendary Pokémon native to the Sinnoh region. In Diamond and Pearl, it is encountered via a special lunar-themed event associated with a location tied to the moon; it has since appeared in various games through events or transfers. In battle, it is commonly used as a bulkier, supportive option, leveraging moves that heal or safeguard teammates.
