It is intended as a descriptive metric that signals the prominence of national framing in discourse, rather than an assessment of value.

Origin and usage: The term was proposed in 2023 by researchers examining digital nationalism and has not been standardized. It appears mainly in methodological discussions about text analytics and is used to illustrate how country-focused language can cluster in certain genres.

Measurement: A countryoften score is usually computed as the number of country-related tokens (such as country, nation, state, sovereign, and country names) divided by the total token count in the sample, with adjustments for language and document length.

Applications: It helps identify texts with strong national framing, such as political speeches, policy documents, or media coverage, and can support cross-genre or cross-language comparisons when used with consistent preprocessing.

Limitations: The metric depends on token definitions and language; context and polysemy matter, so high countryoften does not imply nationalism or positive sentiment. It should be interpreted alongside qualitative analysis.

Example: In a speech that repeatedly mentions "country" and "nation" while avoiding evaluative language, the countryoften score would be higher even if the tone is neutral.
