Consolacion

Consolacion is a city in the province of Cebu, Philippines. It is located approximately 33 kilometers east of Cebu City, the provincial capital. As of the 2020 census, the city has a population of over 83,000 people.

The city of Consolacion is part of the Culion River valley, near the Pasil Port, where fishing and boat-building are major industries. The city's economy is primarily driven by the manufacturing and agro-industrial sectors, with a significant focus on the production of household furniture, as well as processed and fresh crops such as fruits and flowers.

Consolacion has a total land area of approximately 13.64 square kilometers, with a city proper that spans roughly 0.94 square kilometers. The city is classified as a second-class municipality and is governed by a municipal fiscal code.

The city's climate is classified as a Type III and IV, with the wettest months generally occurring between June and October. Average temperature ranges from 24.2 to 30.1°C throughout the year. Consolacion is known for its various natural attractions, including rivers, beaches, and waterfalls.

The discovery of fossilized dinosaur bones in the nearby town of Tubahan, Consolacion, also contributed to the area's rich prehistoric heritage, which has drawn the interest of both local and international paleontological communities.

Economic growth and potential new projects have led to the inclusion of Consolacion in the medium-term urban development plans for Central Visayas. The growth strategy is focused on urban mobility, the revitalization of historic areas, and the quality of living in residential areas to address community-related requirements and concerns.
