Connla

Connla is a figure from Irish mythology, most notably appearing in the tale "The Adventures of Connla's Island" (Echtra Connla). He is the son of Conn of the Hundred Battles, a legendary High King of Ireland. The story recounts Connla's encounter with a fairy woman who beckons him to her realm.

The fairy woman appears to Connla while he is listening to music and eating. She offers him a magical fruit, which, once eaten, satisfies all hunger and thirst. She also sings a song that makes him fall deeply in love with her and yearn to join her in the land of the Sidhe, or fairies. Despite his father Conn's attempts to dissuade him and prevent him from leaving, Connla is unable to resist the fairy woman's call.

Connla eventually departs with the fairy woman in her magical boat, sailing away towards the Land of Youth or a similar otherworldly destination. His departure signifies his embrace of the supernatural and his severance from the mortal world. The tale of Connla serves as an example of the allure and danger of the Otherworld in Irish folklore, and the power of supernatural beings to entice mortals away from their ordinary lives.
