Comtranslation

Comtranslation refers to the phenomenon where words or phrases from two or more languages appear together within a single utterance or text. This is common in multilingual communities or in situations where individuals are actively code-switching between languages. It can manifest as borrowing words, integrating grammatical structures, or directly translating a concept from one language into another, often retaining the original phrasing or structure.

The reasons for comtranslation are varied. It can arise from a lack of a direct equivalent for a specific term in one of the languages, leading to the adoption of the word from the other.
