Collinearly

Collinearly is an adverb that describes the arrangement of three or more points that lie on the same straight line. In geometry, points are considered collinearly if they can all be found along a single, unbroken line. This concept is fundamental in understanding spatial relationships and is used in various mathematical and scientific fields.

For instance, if you have three points labeled A, B, and C, and they are collinearly arranged, it means that if you draw a line passing through A and B, point C will also fall on that same line. Conversely, if the points do not lie on the same line, they are considered non-collinear.

The determination of collinearity often involves vector calculations or slope comparisons. If the slope between point A and point B is the same as the slope between point B and point C, then A, B, and C are collinear. Another method involves checking if the sum of the distances between two pairs of points equals the distance between the remaining pair, for example, if the distance from A to B plus the distance from B to C equals the distance from A to C.
