CoaXPress

CoaXPress is a high-speed, point-to-point, serial communication standard designed for machine vision applications. It enables the transmission of high-resolution images and control data over a single coaxial cable. The standard supports multiple data rates, with the latest version, CoaXPress 2.0, offering speeds up to 12.5 Gbps per lane. This allows for extremely high frame rates and resolutions, crucial for demanding industrial inspection and scientific imaging tasks.

A key feature of CoaXPress is its ability to transmit data in both directions simultaneously. High-speed image data flows from the camera to the frame grabber, while lower-speed control signals and power are sent from the frame grabber to the camera. This bidirectional communication simplifies system design by reducing the number of cables required. CoaXPress utilizes standard coaxial cables and connectors, such as BNC, which are readily available and robust.

The CoaXPress standard is developed and maintained by the Japan Industrial Imaging Association (JIIA). It is widely adopted in industrial cameras, machine vision systems, and scientific imaging equipment where high bandwidth and low latency are critical.
