Clonaid

Clonaid was a company that claimed to be the first to clone a human being. Founded in the Bahamas in 1997, the company announced in December 2002 that it had successfully created a cloned human baby, nicknamed "Eve." They stated that Eve was a clone of a 30-year-old American woman. Clonaid presented no verifiable scientific evidence to support their claims, and the scientific community remained highly skeptical.

The company's founder, Claude Vorilhon, who also goes by the name Raël, leads a UFO religion called the Raëlian Movement. The Raëlians believe that life on Earth was created by extraterrestrial scientists and that cloning is a way to achieve immortality. Clonaid's claims were met with widespread condemnation from governments, religious leaders, and scientific organizations worldwide. Many saw the endeavor as ethically problematic and scientifically unsubstantiated.

Despite repeated requests for proof, Clonaid never provided DNA samples or any other evidence that could be independently verified. Their claims were largely dismissed by the mainstream scientific community as a publicity stunt. In the years following the announcement of "Eve," Clonaid continued to make sporadic claims about human cloning, but none have ever been substantiated. The company's activities have been largely inactive in recent years, and their claims of human cloning remain unproven and widely disputed.
