Clitheroes
Clitheroes is a small, unincorporated community located in North Central Kansas. It is situated in Jewel County, approximately ten miles west of the town of Burr Oak and two miles north of the Nebraska state line. The area is characterized by rolling farmland, typical of the Great Plains region. Historically, Clitheroes was a farming settlement, with the earliest settlers arriving in the late 19th century. Like many rural communities in the Great Plains, Clitheroes experienced a population decline throughout the 20th century as agricultural practices evolved and younger generations moved to urban centers.
