Claris

Claris is a software company that develops and markets software for personal computers. It was originally founded as FileMaker Inc. in 1987, a subsidiary of Apple Computer. In 1998, the company was renamed Claris. Claris is perhaps best known for its FileMaker Pro database software, which has been a popular tool for individuals and businesses for decades. Other notable Claris products include ClarisWorks (later AppleWorks), an integrated productivity suite that combined word processing, spreadsheet, database, and drawing capabilities, and FileMaker Server, for managing and deploying FileMaker databases.

In 2000, Claris was rebranded back to FileMaker Inc. The company continued to operate as a subsidiary of Apple, focusing primarily on the FileMaker product line. Over the years, FileMaker Pro evolved, adding new features and capabilities to address the changing needs of users and businesses. The platform became known for its ease of use in creating custom applications for various purposes, from contact management to inventory tracking.

In 2020, FileMaker Inc. was rebranded once again, this time to Claris International Inc. This rebranding aimed to reflect a broader vision beyond just the FileMaker database, acknowledging the company's role in empowering users to create custom solutions. Claris continues to develop and support its flagship product, FileMaker, while also exploring new avenues for custom app development and integration.
