It is most commonly caused by a bacterial infection, particularly Escherichia coli (E. coli), which originates in the intestines. While bacterial infections are the most frequent cause, other factors can also contribute to cystitis, including certain medications, spermicides, radiation therapy to the pelvic area, and irritants like harsh soaps or bubble baths. In some cases, cystitis can occur without an identifiable cause, known as interstitial cystitis.
Symptoms of cystitis typically include a frequent and urgent need to urinate, a burning sensation during urination
Diagnosis of cystitis usually involves a medical history, physical examination, and a urinalysis to detect bacteria
