Châteauguay
Châteauguay is a city located in the Montérégie region of southwestern Quebec, Canada. Situated on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River, it is part of the Greater Montreal area. The city's origins trace back to the seigneurial system established during the New France period, with the seigneury of Châteauguay granted to Charles-Aubert de La Chesnaye in the late 17th century. The name "Châteauguay" is believed to derive from the surname of a former owner of a castle in France.
