Chuó

Chuí is a municipality in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Located on the Atlantic coast in the extreme southeast of the state, it borders Uruguay and forms a binational urban area with the Uruguayan city of Chuy. The two towns are connected by the international border crossing, making Chuí the easternmost municipality in Brazil.

Geography and climate: The municipality includes coastal plains, beaches, and rural lands inland. The border with Uruguay is in part defined by nearby river systems, and the terrain is largely flat. Chuí has a humid subtropical climate, with warm summers, mild winters, and rainfall distributed throughout the year.

Demographics and economy: The population is small, numbering in the low thousands, with urban concentration near the border. The economy relies heavily on cross-border commerce, services for residents and visitors, fishing, and agricultural activity in surrounding areas. History and administration: The area has a historical presence of gaucho communities and developed as a border town in the 20th century. Chuí attained municipal status in the late 20th century, and its local government administers services and development for the municipality.
