Chukos
Chukos, also known as Chukchi, are an indigenous people of the Russian Far East, primarily inhabiting the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug. They are one of the smallest ethnic groups in Russia, with a population of around 17,000 people. The Chukos speak the Chukchi language, which belongs to the Chukotko-Kamchatkan language family. Their traditional way of life is closely tied to the environment, with a focus on hunting, fishing, and gathering. They have a rich cultural heritage, including traditional music, dance, and art. The Chukos have faced significant challenges due to the harsh climate and the impact of globalization, but they continue to preserve their language and cultural practices. The Chukos are recognized as an indigenous people by the Russian government and have their own national flag and anthem. They are an important part of the cultural and linguistic diversity of Russia.
