Choregiai, derived from the Greek word "choregia," refers to a system of public patronage or liturgy in ancient Greece, particularly in Athens. It was a form of civic duty where wealthy citizens were financially responsible for providing public services or funding certain communal activities. The most well-known form of choregia was the funding of theatrical productions, specifically the training and equipping of the chorus for tragedies and comedies performed at the City Dionysia and other festivals.
