Chiblockers is a term that emerged in cryptocurrency communities, particularly within discussions surrounding blockchain technology. It generally refers to entities or individuals who advocate for or implement measures that restrict or "block" certain types of transactions or activities on a blockchain. This can encompass a range of actions, from preventing specific cryptocurrency addresses from interacting with decentralized applications (dApps) to outright censorship of certain transaction types.

The concept of chiblockers is often debated. Supporters argue that such measures are necessary for regulatory compliance, to prevent illicit activities like money laundering or terrorism financing, and to protect users from scams or malicious actors. They might point to the need for blockchains to be integrated into the traditional financial system, which often requires Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) procedures.

Critics, however, often view chiblockers as a threat to the core principles of decentralization and censorship resistance that underpin blockchain technology. They argue that any form of transaction blocking undermines the immutability and open nature of public blockchains, potentially leading to a more centralized and controlled system. This can lead to concerns about potential abuse of power by those who control the blocking mechanisms.
