Chattum

Chattum refers to a historical indigenous people who inhabited the region of present-day Tennessee and Alabama. They were part of the larger Muskogean language family and are often associated with the Creek Confederacy. The Chattum were known for their agricultural practices, cultivating crops such as corn, beans, and squash. Their settlements were typically located along rivers and streams, which provided access to water and fertile land.

Little is definitively known about the specific social structure and customs of the Chattum, as much of the information available comes from the accounts of European explorers and traders who encountered them.
