Chamaecyparisus
Chamaecyparis is a genus of coniferous trees in the cypress family, Cupressaceae. Commonly known as False Cypress or Hinoki Cypress, these trees are native to eastern Asia and North America. The genus is characterized by its scale-like leaves arranged in opposite pairs, which are often flattened and arranged in a fan-like manner. The bark of Chamaecyparis species is typically fibrous and reddish-brown. They produce small, globular cones that mature into woody structures containing seeds.
Several species are recognized within the Chamaecyparis genus, including Chamaecyparis obtusa (Hinoki Cypress) and Chamaecyparis lawsoniana
