Chagastaudin

Chagastaudin is a small town in the fictional region of Veridia, located in the eastern foothills of the Aster Range along the Chaga River. It is the administrative center of the rural municipality of the same name and serves as a local commercial hub for nearby farms.

The name Chagastaudin likely combines elements from two local languages, with Chaga meaning watercourse and taudin denoting settlement, though exact origins are uncertain.

The town sits in a narrow valley with terraced farmland. It experiences a temperate climate with warm summers and cool winters, and receives about 750 millimeters of precipitation annually.

Chagastaudin was founded in the mid-17th century by agrarian migrants from surrounding valleys and grew as a market stop for regional produce. A railway line reached the town in the early 20th century, boosting trade and establishing a longer-term growth trajectory.

As of 2020, the population was around 6,000 residents, predominantly rural households. The economy centers on agriculture—especially grapes, citrus, and cereals—along with small-scale manufacturing and local services.

The town hosts an annual harvest festival featuring traditional music and crafts. Veridian is the primary language, with a local dialect spoken by many residents; religious communities include multiple Christian denominations and a small Hindu temple.

Notable landmarks include the old stone bridge over the Chaga River, the 19th-century town hall, and a historic parish church.
