Central Asian is a term that can refer to several things, primarily concerning the geographical region of Central Asia and its inhabitants. Geographically, Central Asia is a vast inland area of Asia, generally considered to comprise the five former Soviet republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Other definitions may include parts of Afghanistan, Mongolia, Iran, and western China. Culturally, Central Asian refers to the peoples and cultures that have historically inhabited this region.
