Canices
Canice was a 7th-century Irish saint and bishop. The name Canice or Kieran is of Irish origin, meaning "little dark one." Records about his life are limited. According to legend, Canice was a monk and a companion of Saint Fintan, and together they shared a monastery. They later parted ways, with Saint Fintan going to the north of the county, while Canice founded another monastery to the south.
