Cangas

Cangas is a toponym used for several places in Spain. The most common references are: Cangas do Morrazo, a coastal municipality in the province of Pontevedra, Galicia; and Cangas del Narcea, a municipality in western Asturias. In addition, smaller localities and parishes bearing the name exist within other Galician and Asturian municipalities.

Cangas do Morrazo is located on the southern shore of the Ría de Vigo, opposite the city of Vigo. The municipality includes the town of Cangas and surrounding villages such as Aldán. The area is known for its beaches, fishing, and maritime tradition; the economy relies on fishing, shellfisheries, tourism, and services. The municipality has a historic center with traditional architecture and a harbourside character, and it is a popular base for beachgoing and boating, with ferries and boat services linking to Vigo.

Cangas del Narcea lies in western Asturias, in a mountainous and forested part of the Narcea river valley. The municipality encompasses rural villages and historic churches. The economy is based on forestry, agriculture and rural tourism; the area serves as a gateway to nearby natural and cultural attractions, including protected areas such as the Muniellos Biosphere Reserve, a beech forest area that attracts hikers and nature visitors.
