Calderdales is a local government district in West Yorkshire, England. It was formed in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, as a merger of the County Borough of Halifax and several surrounding boroughs and rural districts. The name Calderdale comes from the River Calder, which flows through the district. The administrative centre is Halifax.
